So I booked a flight to Anchorage going through Denver a couple of days ago. I intentionally selected the option for the 1st leg to get to Denver with a 2.5 hour layover as opposed to the option with a 1 hour layover specifically to avoid the scenario of a delay causing us to miss the connection.

I got an email today saying that Southwest made changes to my itinerary. What they did was change the 1st leg to that later time. I, of course, assumed that they must have cancelled the flight I originally selected so I logged in to see if I could make changes to get to Denver earlier. What I found is that the original flight was still there with the same time and flight number and with plenty of seats of available including the ones I originally selected. I'm blocked out from making changes to the itinerary and told to call customer service.

So I call customer service. The CSR was confident that my original flight either got cancelled, flight time changed, flight number changed, etc. I asked the CSR to check to make sure. After a few minutes she says "Oh, that flight is still available and nothing has changed with it. I have no idea why they changed your flight. I've never seen this before." She happily changed us back to the original flight and agreed that she would not take the risk with the later flight either. She cautioned that because she didn't know why we got moved to begin with that it might happen again. It's something I wondered as well. I'll give a deserved nod the CSR for being super helpful.

ALP, Priority card holder, booked Choice Preferred with points, and traveling with a companion using CP.

The questions: Has this particular scenario happened to any of you? Does anyone know why they moved us to a different flight to begin with? What are the odds they'll change it again?

Note...I'm not saying Southwest did anything wrong. I'm not saying there wasn't a good reason for the change. I'm not saying there isn't more to the story. There almost certainly is. I just don't know what it is right now. I'm not saying the problem isn't with me. It probably was somehow. I'm just curious what happened.
