So it’s been my wife’s dream to own a bearded dragon. We have been back-and-forth on timing and finally pulled the trigger on getting everything. My Wife wanted to get the bearded dragon from PetSmart, however, after reading everything that could possibly go wrong. I decided to find one in an exotic pet store. It’s a local shop that gets the bearded dragons from pet expose and reputable breeders. However, after doing plenty of research myself, the materials that they suggested seemed so off from everything that I’ve read or seen. I want to ensure the best possible set up. I know that early life is so very impactful. So I’m looking for a suggestions on my current set up. I’ll post pictures and items used.
40 gallon (low) tank ( I have 120 gallon ready but was told to start in the 40)
Arc. 12% UVB
120 watt basking bulb
1 standard household light bulb ( for sun brightness simulation)
2 drift wood logs and some other odd and ends
110-120 F on site of basking spot
80-90 F at base of log
70-85 on cool side
I have a plastic food dish for feedings
Water dish
Spray bottles using 1-3 times a day
Currently paper towels at base (switching to sand/ dirt mix when it comes in)
Calcium to enrich green, crickets and meal worms (current diet)
So far I’ve seen that I really need hides for both the cool and warm side
Any other suggestions comments or help would be super appreciated
