I’m trying to find a novel I read about 15 years ago that I bought from Waterstones. Here are everything I remember:
Format: A novel made up of multiple interlinked storylines, each following different residents living on the same street.
Setting: A wealthy/exclusive street in the UK, with grand houses. The cover showed a row of these houses.
Tone: Light and warm — not dark or heavy. A feel-good community kind of book.
Key storylines I remember:
• An African/Kenyan boy who is a gifted football prodigy comes to England with his father to play professional football. In the end he suffers a career-ending injury and can no longer play.
• Some kind of legal battle involving the residents or the houses on the street.
Other details:
• It was not a popular or well-known book — likely a debut novel from a small UK publisher
• The cover clearly showed a row of houses or just houses
I remember really enjoying the book and want to find similar book by same author. It’s been driving me crazy! Thank you.
