Hey everyone. Location: North Texas
My mom is going through a divorce in Texas. Her husband has a motorcycle in his possession (bought because he wanted it) but it’s in my mom’s name. Like she has the title, I’ve seen it, it has her name and no one else’s on it. She’s currently living with my husband and I in DFW and has the title in her possession. Husband is living at their house north of Austin.
Shes been unemployed for a year and a half, and she wants him to pay her the $5k she spent on the motorcycle for him to have last year so she can have some money and transfer the title to his name. He’s trying to be as difficult as possible.
If he refuses to give the bike to her so she can sell it, OR refuses to buy it from her and keep it, what are the legal actions my mom can take? She has Parkinson’s and I’m having to help with all of this because she’s so stressed her symptoms have skyrocketed and her memory is pretty shot.
We’re looking at getting an attorney, but since she’s unemployed, financially it’s hard so we’re hoping the money from this bike can help pay for one.
