Hey everyone! My family is planning our very first camping/RV trip and I'd love some local knowledge.
About us: Two adults + two young kids. Looking to stay within roughly 60–90 minutes from home for this first trip.
What we're after:
- Beginner-friendly, low-stress vibe
- Clean, safe, family-oriented campground
- On-site bathrooms with showers
- Kid-friendly amenities — playground, pool, lake/beach, activities, etc.
Setup we're considering:
- Renting an RV + booking a full-hookup site, OR
- Renting an on-site cabin or park model
Specifically looking for recs on campgrounds that offer:
- Full-hookup RV sites (suitable for a small/mid-size rental RV)
- On-site cabin rentals
- Strong family amenities (pools, lakes, kids' programming)
We're thinking 2–3 nights
Any "can't miss" spots for little kids especially appreciated! And if you have general tips for first-timers — best type of site to request, timing advice, mistakes to avoid
Thanks in advance!
