Advice on renovation Sydney
*edit - I want an interior designer to help with colour, materials etc
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to renovate a small galley kitchen (approx. 2.2m x 4.6m), a tiny laundry, and two bathrooms (one very small, one standard size). I’m not planning to change any layouts—just a full cosmetic update across all spaces (and happy to do ikea cabinetry)
I’ve budgeted around $100k and had one interior designer say that’s achievable. However, a second (more experienced) designer estimated $200k+, which was a bit of a shock.
The only real non-negotiable for me is marble benchtops in both the kitchen and bathrooms.
I’m trying to understand:
Does $100k sound realistic for this scope in today’s market?
Is $200k+ more in line with current pricing?
How accurate can these estimates really be before engaging a builder or selecting specific finishes (tiling, fixtures, etc.)?
Would really appreciate any insights or experiences, especially from people who’ve done similar renovations recently.
