I am getting my mother a vacuum for Mother's Day this year and need some help picking something out. I have a budget of $200-250. Her space is a ~1,200 sq. ft. apartment in a large city and is mostly hardwood with a few low-pile area rugs. There are no animals in the apartment.

She would like a stick vacuum due to space constraints in her apartment, especially with storing it, and she prefers having a cord due to negative experiences with a few cordless vacuums. A lot of the vacuums that I've seen in this subreddit are way too large for her space, so hoping to get some recommendations of smaller form factor vacuums! My current thought is a Shark HV301, but I have read some bad reviews here.
