A fair and moral and ethical warning warning for people looking for a studio apartment.
I signed a lease on April 30th and moved in the next day. There was no power going to the dishwasher, and countertop stove. Reset the breakers only the stove worked but then the breaker tripped. Plugged my charger into one of the two kitchen countertop outlets and when I unplugged it, the safety on three outlets including the one I used was activated. Reset the breaker switches but that did not work. Pressed the reset button on the three outlets but that did not work. Submitted work order. Maintenance reset all the breakers switches while I was not there. Still no dishwasher, stove, and outlets. Dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave/air fryer, and stove are all on the same circuit. Dishwasher and disposal are plugged into the same outlet under sink (that outlet is not protected from any water damage occurring under sink.
It is obvious that that the property manager did not check the unit before I moved in, and it is possible that they already knew that the electrical debacle already existed and they tried to rent the unit to an unsuspecting person.
Over the past weekend, management said that they authorized the immediate cancelation of my lease with a full unconditional refund. So far via the rent portal "Rentcafe" my lease is still active but they want the keys to the unit. The property manager has the authority to cancel the lease in the Rentcafe portal but obviously she is choosing not to. She has nerve to ask for the keys while my lease is still legally active and I have yet to receive my refund. The unit is not livable.
Property is manage by Ascend, and Styx Company
Interesting note: My former neighbor told that the unit was used as a model apartment. He noticed the property manager showing people this particular unit (1107)
