We’re collecting sign-ons for a coalition support letter for CA SB 1190, the Safe Passage for Youth Act, and we need as many voices as possible.
As most of you know, private youth transport companies have been getting away with terrifying and traumatic practices for far too long. Kids are still being taken in the middle of the night, restrained, handcuffed, and transported through fear and force with little to no real oversight.
SB 1190 is an important first step. It would create basic accountability and minimum safety standards for private youth transportation companies in California, including prohibiting:
- blindfolds
- hoods
- devices that obstruct a child’s vision
- nighttime pickups
- certain restraints
Everyone can sign the letter. You do not need to live in California or have a California connection.
