Define “America”

I’m not sure everybody realizes that there are more Americas than the U.S. version. Whenever I go to Canada, Central America and South America in particular I feel the need to clarify which America I’m from. As if saying “America” excludes the other Americas.

I think “north-central America” is more appropriate. Thoughts?

Hey guys just wanted to offer my experience and perspective on my nearly three years ownership of my car.

- 2020 M340i

- bought with 15k miles Jul 2023 for $45,200

with 1 month factory warranty remaining

- no extended warranties, ppf or other add ons

- stored under car cover in driveway during the week

In southeast U.S.

- Sunset Orange, basic options ($65k sticker)

- 5 previous owners, clean Carfax

- mods include stage 1 JB4 kit, spacers, quad tips

- Michelin Pilot Sport 4S at 19k miles

- oil changes once a year/6k miles

- spark plugs changed with JB4 install

Seeing today’s prices on these I’m feeling even better about my decision to buy this car it has been pure joy driving in Sport mode and pure luxury driving in Normal. Soaks up manhole covers so much better than my E60 did. Corners amazingly on the Pilot Sports.

Torque is near infinite and changing at low rpm feels enjoyable in a muscular way. I take it into the mountains to go hiking early Saturday mornings and grin ear to ear with each 550hp thrust in 3rd & 4th gear. One of the primary reasons for purchase, to take hiking (I have a separate daily driver).

Problems to date include having to add antifreeze one time, failure to start on one attempt (prior to first starter recall fwiw), and limp mode once while flooring it in sport mode at 20 mph coming out of a corner. Indicated drivetrain fault.

Not driving it every day helps me appreciate it every time I get inside and especially when firing up. I understand that with the introduction of mild hybrid system the exhaust quieted. My startup note is intoxicating like a racecar.

She has a couple rock chips but no dings or dents and looks flawless from 10+ ft. Good enough to not worry about it.

Has great leg room front and back other than door cup holder can catch your leg on occasion. Not enough to complain. Trunk is huge for me, no issue traveling with partner and kid for weeklong trips.

My only complaint is the steering feel and feedback. Still light years from the E60.
