I am 32 and middle management level at a corporate job where I am paid slightly lower than the average salary for my industry and level. It is at a company that had a strong international reputation and is held in very high regard and the work is generally high profile / value. The work:life balance could of course be worse, but I am not happy with it and the pressure day to day is higher than I’d like for not much reward.
I have been here for 5 years, having left another company doing the same job but on lower profile work, due to the company being of lower status in the industry. I really enjoyed it and moved just for a change more than anything.
I have been given the opportunity to return to my old company, the role would be 3 promotions from when I left, higher pay than my current pay, I would be the most capable and the work life balance would be better. The work wouldn’t be as good however and there have been rumours about their financial stability not being great.
Is taking a ‘step back’ and moving to my old company where status is lower but work life balance would be better worth it?
