Hi all!

I was dealing with recurrent UTIs for almost all of 2025. They were all triggered by sex with a new boyfriend. (I had never had this issue before but had experienced a 2-3 uncomplicated UTIs in childhood/adolescence.)

Urine cultures always came up as E. Coli. After something like 8 courses of antibiotics... I was so anxious and depressed. The male urologist I was referred to in my US healthcare network (Kaiser) felt like no help and just wanted to treat me with Cipro for every new infection which was very concerning to me.

I was really hoping for root-cause healing and a more holistic, preventative regimen vs the more symptom-reactive, pharmaceutical-forward options I was being given.

Finally, I found Hannah Evans - a UK based Naturopath and Nutritional Therapist. Hannah is also a former sufferer of chronic UTIs who found longterm recovery via naturopathic methods and was so inspired that she decided to become a naturopath herself.

My initial post was auto-deleted. I think reddit may have thought it was spam cause I linked to her site (... feel free to DM me if you want me to send you her info!)

Hannah's practice uses a gentle and holistic approach (diet, mindfulness, supplements, etc.). I have now gone over 6 months with no flares or infections whatsoever.

Everyone's body and circumstances are so different but I can briefly summarize the conditions that (I believe) led to my susceptibility for recurrent infections.

  1. When I got into the relationship I was in a period where my immune system was already heavily taxed/overburdened (work stress, family stress, living in a very water damaged/moldy apt.... Luckily I was able to move out of that apt... I did not do any special mold elimination protocol)
  2. Eventually the recurrent infections and subsequent stress created patterns of pelvic floor tension even when I didn't actually have an active infection.
  3. My bf and I realized there's a possibility that he may be carrying strains of E. Coli more unfamiliar to my system because of his past travels to India. This is only our personal hypothesis. We can't know for sure of course, but the practical application is that we are both very mindful about hygiene to a degree I hadn't been been with past partners. We both shower before sex and I also rinse off after as well.

Note: I always only tested positive for E. Coli in my urine, even when I graduated to the more sensitive MicrogenDX urine and vaginal microbiome testing.

Working with Hannah, I was able to re-establish a baseline of health for my bladder and system overall (I also had some hormonal imbalance concerns that we addressed) using herbal supplements, diet and nervous system regulation.

I am so grateful for the relief I have found and I pray that everyone in this group may find healing.
