I found my half-sister, and my other half-sister found her half-brother. We are all buddies now
I found out through ancestry DNA a few years ago that I have a half-sister on my fathers side. We ended up messaging each other, she's 3 years older than I am. We got along and I am currently visiting her in Alberta and flew across the country from Quebec to spend time with her. My father knows about her and he is happy for us. He never told me about her, I'm in my 30s.
I have another half-sister and brother that I grew up with on my mother's side. She ended up finding her half-brother through ancestry DNA also. He lives in the states, and she ended up flying to go visit him and they are buddies now. He went to visit her a few times in Ontario.
What's funny is that on both ends, we have so much in common. Me and my sister share the same interests, have very similar personalities and look alike. My half brother is the same as his brother: they both are outdoor, active dudes that love hunting and fishing and both work in public service (army, firefighters) They also share some distinct physical features.
All this to say that this can open a can of worms, but I'm happy it did.
