Hello all. I inherited a set of Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 and so only powered them with a Fosi BT20A (Bluetooth stereo amp) and streamed from my phone. I use this rig in a room about 6m by 6m by 2.5 m high.

I would like to add a phono preamp and turntable for no more than $500 USD. Is something like the Fosi Audio Box X5 a reasonable choice for the preamp? I am seeking a preamp because I keep reading comments about how much a separate phono preamp improves things over the included preamps in turntables. Is that belief supported by data?

The turntable I am considering right now is the Audio-Technical AT-LP120XUSB.
