hey everyone! so this has been bugging me for a few days now.
when i was in high school i was on pinterest a lot, and there were short horror stories that were reposted onto the app from somewhere else. i remember reading one specific story and for some reason it’s been popping into my head lately.
what i can remember about it is it’s from the point of view of a guy who as a child, remembers this ‘man’ showing up at his house one day, described as tall with pristine blond hair and a perfect smile, perfect skin, basically a pristine example of a man. the ‘man’ claimed that he was there to help the family, i guess he was supposed to be an example for the kids. the narrator has a younger sister who was i think 6-8, and the narrator himself was around 10 i believe. i want to say the man’s name was stanley or fred, something really basic.
so this ‘man’ just lives in the house with them but he doesn’t eat or sleep, and the narrator’s parents seem super anxious with him around but they also expected him to show up eventually? like begrudging acceptance i think. there’s one part of the story where the narrator’s dad tries to force the ‘man’ out but the ‘man’ beats the crap out of the dad for trying to get rid of him, and i remember the narrator saying his mom was just sobbing and trying to help his dad up.
the story ends with the narrator expecting his first child i think, or they just had a baby, and suddenly the ‘man’ shows up again looking the same as when the narrator was a kid. that’s all i can remember from the story, and it was a few years ago, but i’m hoping i’m not crazy and someone can help me find the name! thank ya’ll in advance!
