How do you believe psychiatry should be reformed? Should it be abolished, entirely? Certainly, it should not be the shitstorm that it is today.
Some of you might, indeed (for due reason) argue for the complete abolition of psychiatry. Given the poor experiences you, personally, have had with medications, psychiatrists, and psych wards. I’ve had similarly poor experiences, and I empathize with you.
The system as it is, is dysfunctional. The psychiatrists don’t seem to be in touch with their patients,. These “doctors” don’t seem to understand that meds can and do cause long term harm for patients. Sometimes, bad effects last even after one has stopped psych meds, for weeks, months, or even years.
I struggle to believe that psychiatrists care about their patients, and their well being. There seems to be a higher priority in controlling people. Making sure they are passive, quiet and numb enough so that they don’t disturb anyone’s peace. But that is not help. Not real help.
Given your personal insights on how psychiatry has harmed you, how would you reform the system, so that it better serves the mentally distressed? So you trust that you will actually be helped, rather than harmed even further?
So that, when you might seek help in this form, you might get better, rather than worse?
