Hi all, moving to Cork May 24, EU citizen (Hungarian).

Background: MSc Safety/Security Engineering, Scrum Master cert,

project management experience — but I started out hands-on

(mechanical/installation work, ex-French Foreign Legion).

Comfortable with both white and blue collar.

Few practical questions for anyone who's been through this:

  1. PPS — applying first week via MyWelfare with a hostel manager

letter as proof of address. Realistic processing time in Cork

right now? Anyone done it recently with similar setup?

  1. Starting work BEFORE PPS arrives — I know employers can

register me and I'll be on emergency tax until PPSN comes through.

Is this actually common in Cork, or do most employers want PPS

in hand before signing?

  1. For someone who can do warehouse / security / general operations

immediately while applying for engineering/PM roles in parallel —

how fast is "fast" for landing a first paycheck? Days? Weeks?

Genuine question, not naive — I just want a realistic baseline.

  1. Agency warehouse work specifically — Cpl, Hays, FRS, Sigmar —

which of these actually deliver in Cork vs which are just CV black holes?

Cheers, not looking for life advice, just ground-truth from people

who've done it.
