My 14 y.o. sweet Tuxedo boy is in stage 2 and recently our vet said to start giving him fluids at home once a week. We are currently using the syringe method with a winged infusion set because he tolerates the needle much better than the other method (he barely notices the needle insertion now, whereas the other version makes him cry out and try to run). I also find it easier to do myself as I don't have someone to help me.

But for the third week in a row since we switched to the syringe method, he vomits 5-7 times within 10 minutes after receiving fluids. After that, he's completely fine and seems to feel great, is hungry/eats well etc. But I hate that part of this experience for him includes getting so sick afterward (not to mention the cleaning aspect for me!).

I have tried: 1) slowing down the rate of administering the fluids, 2) giving him less fluids, 3) Bach flower rescue remedy on his ears beforehand, 4) making sure he hasn't eaten recently, 5) making sure I'm calm and we're in a quiet space. Nothing seems to make any difference.

I'm thinking about asking my vet for an anti-nausea med but curious if anyone else has dealt with this? Did you find something to help if so? TIA!
