I had made a post awhile back about concerns regarding my dog’s eyes. What a journey it has been since then! Today Titan was diagnosed (finally) with Nasal Aspergillosis.
This diagnosis comes after a persistent runny nose on 1 side since January along with swollen runny eyes - treated with 2 nasal swabs, 2 rounds of different antibiotics, a CT scan, a nasal biopsy, and today a sinusotomy (a hole drilled into his skull to enter the nasal cavity). He also had a nasal infusion today to begin to fight this. They weren’t able to get into his upper sinus cavity through his nose, hence the tube. They scraped out the fungal plaques and then applied topical Clotrimazol 1%.
Titan will have the catheter tube in his head for the next two weeks, then a second nasal infusion. The tube will then be removed and stapled, but he will forever have a hole in his bone!
Just goes to show you always need to push and advocate for your pet when you think something is wrong, because you never know when something can turn deadly, quick! We went from our family vet to the veterinary hospital where she referred us, only for that doc there to share it was a “waste of money” to do the CT, “he looks fine to me”, and “it’s probably just allergies.” That same day the CT showed bone loss, a tell tale sign of an infection, which pointed us then in the right direction.
Please send our Titan positive healing vibes! ❤️🩹 🐶
