I own a corporation in BC, and would like to hire my wife as an employee.

She will be performing all duties as an employee, receiving the proper salary (+ paying EI premium) as per her job description.

We plan on having a baby in a few years, and wonder if she will be eligible to receive EI while she's on maternity leave.

I feel like this process is something that can be abused so I have doubts about this process. Also, I heard it through the grapevine that employees who are also a family member will be not eligible to receive EI whether or not they pay into EI premium or not.
