I was walking out of a department store, stepped into a pothole and twisted my ankle pretty bad to the point that the employees needed to help me onto a wheelchair and file a report. They helped me into my car and I drove to urgent care, there were x-rays done, I didn't break anything although in huge amount of pain, they put a brace on and gave me crutches and medicine. Now the legal question, is there anything I should do from here? The department store said I would be contacted by their insurance within a day or two and they took pictures of the pothole. The hole was about 1x1ft big, and had clearly been repaired before at some point and was about 8-10ft away from the front entrance. I was carrying large tote bins and hence me not seeing the hole, is theyr anything I can do from here? Is this their fault for negligence or mine?
