I’m 22 and seriously considering getting into sound & communications / low voltage work. I’m pretty set on it, but I want honest opinions from people already in the field.
How hard is the work actually day to day? What should I realistically expect starting out?
I know trades are super competitive right now because a lot of people jumped into them as a trend, but I also feel like a lot of people quit once they realize how physically demanding it is and how much discipline it takes. I’m not looking for an easy paycheck, I’m trying to build a real career and I’m willing to work hard for it.
What’s the learning curve like?
What’s the hardest part for beginners?
How’s the job market looking long term for low voltage?
And if you could restart at 22, would you still choose this trade?
Any advice is appreciated.
