I almost got scammed. A woman called me and said she was from BDO, claiming that my AMEX and Gold Mastercard would be deactivated today and replaced with a BDO Platinum Card. I asked her why, and she said that cards with a CVV and credit card number would be phased out as soon as possible. She added that I should expect a new card to be delivered by Friday or Saturday. She even asked, “Didn’t you check your email?” I hadn’t yet, so I continued the conversation.

Then she asked if I had already redeemed my points from my AMEX card. I said no, and she offered to check the points for me. She knew the first four digits of my AMEX card and asked for the remaining digits, as well as the expiration date. After that, she asked for the “batch” number. I told her I didn’t think I had that information. She said it was the number on the front of the card. I responded that I didn’t think I was supposed to give that, since it’s the CVV. She insisted, so I told her I would just check it myself. She abruptly ended the conversation.
