Feeling guilty, please help 😭
My brother has an alcohol problem, he drinks because he has ptsd. Lately, it has gotten worse and I decided to take him to rehab to get some help. When he gets to rehab he was already going through alcohol withdrawals and was already experiencing hallucination so he might have said things to them that he was not in his right mind. Rehab referred him to the psych ward and 5150 hold has been placed on him. When I got in touch with someone and they told me that he expressed suicidal thoughts and they are admitting him to a psychiatric hospital.
I’m going through guilt because I feel like I let my brother down. I take him to go get help and now he’s gonna have to go through being in a psych ward which I heard horror stories about. He’s never gonna trust me again and I had no idea this was gonna happen after taking him to rehab. I genuinely thought this was the answer. Why would they do this? How is being in a psych ward be good for someone who has a drinking problem and already has PTSD.
For anyone who has family members who went through the same thing can you please let me know what I should expect and what can I do to help. How long will he be in there for?
