Why do my Line Managers never ask about my aspirations, but always interested in my direct reports instead?

I've been with this global company for 5 years now manage a team of 12 within the IT departments. I am a mid/senior manager and due to my teams scope of work, we are tied into almost all of the user base and applications they use - a heavily connected function.

I am constantly delivering to high standards, praised by my team, my peers, and many stakeholders. I manage high volume projects and operations and have been putting in long hours constantly - 50-60 hour weeks.

The pay / comp is good and my team and company culture is good too - not much to complain about other than long hours which i can handle.

Over the 5 years I have had 3 managers who are all a C-Level. The current (3rd) manager is here on a interim basis.

Every manager has always been interested in my team members aspirations and discussed moving / promoting them into different roles etc to assist them in progressing etc. Even the current interim has done a 'get to know you' sessions with each team member in IT and has now come to me talking about giving some of my team opportunities in other teams etc.

I dont have issues with assisting people to progress in their career however, what about me?

Why do my direct line managers never ask about my aspirations or possible opportunities for me? What does this mean that they never ask me? Is it that im actually terrible at my job or is it that im doing really well and they dont want me to move?

I am thinking about raising with my current manager about possible opportunities but I have a concern they may start thinking I am becoming a risk and consider moving due to being bored etc and because of this, I am not sure if i should say anything.

Has anyone been in this position? Or any general thoughts or insight? Anything would help just now.
