I just joined a huge law private law firm and i am the litigation legal assistant for 2 partners with the firm. I had some training the first couple days but I am feeling so lost and overwhelmed. I was kind of thrown to the wolves for lack of a better term and left to figure it on my own. Of course I do ask the other legal assistants and paralegals for help, but I can tell they are getting annoyed with me, even though they agreed they didnt have much training to start either. I really love this job and want it forever so I am coming in early to try and learn tasks and staying late with no expectation of extra pay, I just want to learn. I went to school but sometimes I would read something in school and not actually process it. It was also a while ago. My own lawyer keeps sending me work to do even though I have a bunch of other tasks. I dont even understand half the tasks they are asking me as I am BRAND spanking new. I only did practicum at two other law firms and they didnt teach me anything like this. My school wasn't one of the greatest either.
Does anyone have any tips on how to survive, a cheat sheet, any relative stories to help me through?
