I hope there’s an emphasis on culture in GTAVI.
In the US’s cultural landscape today, I believe that the sense of identity and culture uniqueness has been under siege by recent political efforts. Deportations, ICE activation, referring to countries as “shit holes”, and I’m sure there are other things we can point to show the strain on the US cultural melting pot.
I hope the one thing that GTA6 takes serious is the beauty and ugliness of Miami’s culture, the state that can be as or more diverse than New York (GTAIV) or California (GTAV). Haitians and Hispanics in South Florida, the internal struggle of keeping customs while battling the customs of tourists and newcomers that whitewash Floridian traditions. The food, music, art, and community.
There really is an opportunity to show why maintaining culture is important and why the lives of those who come from a different background than us are just as valuable.
