On a planet consisting only of Vulcans, 99.9% percent would pick the red button. It's only logical.

On a planet where the population is split 50/50 Vulcan and humans: the Vulcans can assume some humans will press red and some will press blue.

As they have 50% of the population the Vulcans know they can collectively vote to save the blue voting humans. As such an overwhelming majority of Vulcans will vote for the greater good.

However, this risk (however small) could easily be avoided if humans weren't so fundamentally illogical🖖
