I will be travelling (by air) to the Bordeaux area in May as well as south Tuscany in June. Coming from Ireland where there is usually a hefty markup + tax on all alcohol. Planning to visit a couple of wineries in each area. Shipping attracts customs + excise charges.

I have unused space/weight to bring back probably 24 bottles in sleeves from each trip (free of Irish taxes).

What’s the best strategy to choose? Budget is somewhat flexible, should I just hit small local wine stores or order online from Millesima etc? I assume buying from wineries will be overpriced based on what I’ve seen before.
