MSFS 2020 “Melted Buildings” / Poor Photogrammetry — Looking for Advanced Fixes Beyond the Usual LOD, Cache, and Server Advice

I’m trying to troubleshoot the melted building / low-detail photogrammetry issue in MSFS 2020, but I’m specifically looking for advanced or less commonly discussed fixes.

I’ve already gone through the usual basic suggestions:

  • Adjusting Terrain LOD / Object LOD
  • Checking whether Bing Data World Graphics and Photogrammetry are enabled
  • Testing different rolling cache sizes and cache on/off
  • Assuming it’s just a Microsoft server issue
  • Internet speed checks and the usual “restart the sim/router” type advice

I’m on a very fast Google Fiber connection, and this issue can still show up even when my connection itself is not struggling. I’ve also seen people mention there may be deeper fixes or system/network-side changes that helped them, but those discussions are usually scattered and vague.

I’m looking for people who have actually improved or solved this through things like:

  • Windows or network adapter settings
  • DNS / IPv6 / routing-related changes
  • MSFS config file tweaks
  • Rolling cache behavior on high-speed connections
  • Bandwidth streaming behavior or hidden sim-side limitations
  • Any non-obvious fixes that made photogrammetry and distant building detail load more consistently

I’m not looking for the entry-level checklist unless there’s a very specific reason one of those settings matters in a less obvious way. I’m trying to figure out what experienced users have found that actually moves the needle.

Has anyone dealt with persistent melted buildings in MSFS 2020 and found a real advanced fix or improvement?

MSFS 2024: Is it finally stable enough for a heavy Fenix/AIG/FSHud setup?

I’ve held off on moving to MSFS 2024 because my current MSFS 2020 setup is extremely stable and I don’t want to break a working ecosystem just to upgrade.

My PC isn’t the concern. I’m specifically asking about addon compatibility and stability for people actively running setups like this:

- Fenix Airbus (main aircraft I fly)
- SmartCARS for VA flights
- GSX Pro + FSDT airports
- FSHud + AIG traffic
- AIFlow / AIGround
- REX Atmos + ActiveSky

Current 2020 setup runs great with smooth performance even at heavy airports using AIG traffic.

For people actually using 2024 with similar addons:
- Is it stable enough to daily drive now?
- Any major issues still unresolved?
- Any addons that still behave worse than in 2020?
- Is performance actually better in real-world use, not benchmarks?

Looking for honest long-term experience, not launch-week opinions.

I have 400 mods/assets. My load times are super slow from the latest patch. I saw the update that ice flake is aware of the issue, however how can I follow the updates around this? Is there an official place they announce these issues? It seems as the issue is still here as of today.
