Yes, we were scared of Russia as Ryen said, but the worst drill was one in Dallas where I was teaching, and all students had to sign cards as to what they would do when a bomb threat was imminent: stay at school, wait for parents to get them, walk home. The day of the drill, no one did what they had signed for: complete chaos. It was the only time they ever did that.
