Yo! If you're like me, If you want to earn passively just by being connected and probably have a few old Android phones lying around or a main phone that sits idle while you sleep. Instead of letting them collect dust, I’ve been using mine to farm DePIN nodes (Grass, perceptron, Titan, etc.).

I’ve had my farm running for over 80 days straight now, and honestly, the trick isn't the apps themselves—it's making sure your phone doesn't melt or explode from being plugged in 24/7.

Here’s exactly how I set mine up to stay at Top tier status without killing my hardware or letting the hardware throttle and slowdown.

Protect Your Battery (The Smart Charging Secret)

If you leave a phone plugged in 24/7 at 100%, the battery will eventually "bloat" or swell—which can literally pop the screen off. To run a farm safely, you need to cap the charge.

Samsung / Pixel / Modern Androids: Go to Settings > Battery. Look for "Battery Protection" or "Charging Optimization." Set it to Basic or 80% Limit. This stops the battery from sitting at high-voltage stress, letting the phone run off the cable instead.

Gaming Phones (ASUS/Infinix): Look for "Bypass Charging." This is the holy grail—it sends power directly to the processor and skips the battery entirely, meaning zero heat and zero bloat.

The Goal: Keep it at 80% charge or lower. A cool battery is a battery that won't explode on your shelf.

The "Black Screen" Trick (Burn-In Protection)

If you are running nodes 24/7 with the "Stay Awake" setting on, the biggest risk is Screen Burn-in. This happens when static images (like your dashboard or referral code) are stuck on the screen for weeks, permanently ghosting the display.

To prevent this, you need a "Black Screen" overlay app. This allows the phone to stay "awake" and running your apps in the background while the pixels themselves are turned off.

  1. How to Set Up the Black Screen App

The best tool for this is simply called "Black Screen" (developed by jApp or similar utilities).

Download: Look for Black Screen on the Play Store. It’s a utility designed for playing videos with the screen off, which is perfect for node farming.

Enable Overlay: When you open it, give it permission to "Display over other apps."

Floating Button: The app will put a small floating "Lock" or "Start" icon on your screen.

Activate:

Open your farming apps (Grass, Perceptron, etc.).

Tap the floating Black Screen icon.

The screen will go completely black, but the phone remains awake. Your nodes will continue to earn points because the system thinks the display is still active.

Unlock: Usually, a double-tap on the black screen or a swipe will bring your display back instantly so you can check your rewards.

  1. Why This is Better Than a Normal Lock

Zero Burn-in: On AMOLED and OLED screens (standard on most Samsungs and newer phones), a pure black pixel is actually turned off. It consumes 0% power and has 0% chance of burn-in.

Bypass System Sleep: Normal Android locking often kills background network tasks. A black screen overlay keeps the app in the "Foreground," ensuring maximum uptime.

Heat Reduction: Since the display isn't generating light/heat, your phone stays 2-3°C cooler, which helps prevent CPU throttling.

Stacking the Farm: Running Grass & Perceptron Simultaneously

If you want to maximize your earnings, you shouldn't just run one app. The "meta" in 2026 is Stacking. Since Grass and Perceptron Network use different resources, you can run them both on a single Android device without them interfering with each other.

However, there is a specific way to set this up so your earnings don't stall.

  1. The Foreground Rule for Perceptron

Unlike Grass, which is very stable in the background, Perceptron Network is a bit more sensitive. It works best when it is the Active App on your screen.

The Setup: Open Grass first and make sure it says "Connected." Once it's running, switch over to Perceptron.

Keep it Focused: Leave Perceptron open as the main app on your screen. If you minimize it for too long, the network might mark your node as "Idle," and you'll stop earning points.

The Sync: Grass will continue to run silently in the background while you keep Perceptron in the foreground.

  1. Uptime is Money

For both of these projects, your "Quality Score" depends on how long you stay connected without dropping.

Lock the Apps: Use the "Recent Apps" menu to lock both Grass and Perceptron so Android doesn't close them to save RAM.

The Final Step: Once Perceptron is in the foreground, turn on your Black Screen app. This keeps the app "active" so you earn at the maximum rate, but keeps your screen off to prevent heat and battery drain.

  1. Support the Guide & Get a Bonus

Setting up these farms takes a lot of trial and error (I’ve been running mine for over 80 days now!). If you found this guide helpful, using my referral codes is the best way to support more testing.

Plus, most of these platforms offer a sign-up bonus or an earnings multiplier for new users who join through an existing "High Tier" node. It helps us both out:

Step 4: The Final Polish & Maintenance

Once you’ve signed up with the referral code to lock in your priority status, you’re officially part of the farm. But a true "set it and forget it" setup requires a tiny bit of weekly maintenance to make sure those points keep stacking 24/7.

Check the Dashboard: Open your apps once a day just to verify they still say "Connected". If you see "Disconnected," a simple toggle of your Wi-Fi usually fixes it.

Stay in the Foreground: Remember, if you are running Perceptron, it MUST be the app showing on your screen before you turn on your Black Screen overlay. If it gets pushed to the background, your earnings will drop.

The 100-Hour Milestone: Keep that uptime high! Most referral bonuses (like the 5,000-point headstart) only kick in after you hit your first 100 hours of active farming.

Let's Get Farming!

That’s it! You’ve now turned a piece of hardware into a passive income machine. Use the guide, protect your battery, and watch those nodes climb.
