I have had one miscarriage, one still birth and I just found out that my current pregnancy may not be viable as the baby has a 95% chance of having Down syndrome. The chances of this baby making it to a live birth are less than 2%. I don’t know what I did wrong and why I’m being punished. What does Hinduism say about this?
I am pregnant and had my NIPT results shared with me today. I’m a high risk for trisomy 21 (Down syndrome). The medical team will conduct additional tests but from what I understand the NIPT for trisomy 21 is 99% accurate usually.
This has obviously come as a shock to my husband and I and we can’t think straight. Part of me wants to have this baby and raise them. But the other part of me is thinking if the child will have a good life. Society will never treat them normally as we won’t always be around to protect them. Has anyone raised a child with Down syndrome? I had a miscarriage and a still birth in the last 20 months and I am mentally exhausted.
