I remember hearing stories where saints at their death bed say that they have not even begun to repent (or something along those lines) if they haven’t even repented, how can we have any hope to be saved since we need to repent to be forgiven.

Like what does grace do how does God bestowing his grace help us battle temptation. And also just like what is grace in simple terms Please I’m stupid.
