Canon Romance or Actor's Line Delivery Mistake?
I just went to see HP and the Cursed Child and noticed a dialogue difference between the play and the book:
Paraphrasing from the Book:
"Scorpius, I can't believe you just asked Rose to be your GIRLFRIEND!!"
Paraphrasing the Play:
"Scorpius, I can't believe you just asked Rose to be your FRIEND!!"
Was this a slip of the tongue by the actor or an attempt to turn the audience away from a Rose/Scorpius romance and instead hint that there's deeper feelings between Albus/Scorpius? (My friends all agreed that the actor definitely said friend and not girlfriend)
I should add that in this same scene afterwards, we had a heartfelt moment between Albus/Scorpius which only added to the theory that there may be romantic feelings brewing. Which would mean the play divulged from the original book
