PC Build Advice

Hello, I'm trying to get some advice on a new PC I'm planning on building. I play mostly competitive games in 1080p low settings and am aiming for the highest frames and lowest delay possible with a budget of around £1800. However I do sometimes play other more graphical intensive titles in 4k with the highest settings so don't completely disregard that.

As I have exams for the next month I won't be building or playing on this PC for a month and I'm wondering if now is a good time to buy PC parts or if its better to wait (I could buy some now and some later if discounts are really good right now as I don't really know what prices are usually like for the components).

When looking for parts I have mainly been looking on Amazon because I trust them the most and they still offer decent prices. This is my current idea for a build and I'd like some advice on what parts are good/bad and what prices are good/bad so I can know what to buy now or later or not to buy at all.

CPU:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (~£300)
  • or AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D (~£350)

GPU:

  • ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5070 OC Edition (~£535)
  • or ASUS PRIME RX9070 XT OC (~£589)

RAM:

  • Kingston FURY Beast Black DDR5 16GB (2x8GB) 6000MT/s CL30 (~£270)

Storage:

  • Kingston KC3000 NVMe 1TB (~£185)

PSU:

  • MSI MAG A750GL 80 Plus Gold (~£80)

CPU Cooler:

  • ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 A-RGB (~£75)

Case:

  • Montech XR (~£50)

My main concerns are:

  • RTX 5070 vs RX 9070 XT for my personal use case
  • If the is the 9800x3d worth the extra £50
  • What motherboard to go for
  • Which parts are good deals currently
  • Whether there are any better alternatives for any of these parts

Aesthetics matter a little but performance is the priority for my build.
