I have a younger sibling that will have their license to drive soon. I have a solid idea of what sort of vehicle we're looking for and I'm planning on beginning looking at and test driving local vehicles of interest in the coming weeks.

I have only ever bought cars for myself. What do I need to know before purchasing a car for a family member? Specifically, if I purchase the car how can I get short term bare bones insurance (like 1 or 2 months, no collision, just minimum legally required) so I have time to get the car completely fixed up, then how do I transfer the title and insurance over to my sibling when it's time for them to take possession of the car?
