I recently resigned/ceased as director of a CIC company that has never traded and no bank account during my time as director.
I have left during a heated period of time. I didn’t inform hmrc of non trading status because I didn’t have the utr code with me by that time I have resigned. When I contacted new director/people of the company, they said they couldn’t give it to me as i’m no longer part of it. Fair enough. (I live far away from the office that has been registered so I couldn’t get it)
I emailed my resignation to the company before leaving saying firstly i’ll do the hmrc stuff then said as I don’t have the code in time for my resignation so the new director is responsible. I have no responsibility anymore.
During my time, late accounts were filed but all penalties have been paid by me and I emailed them I don’t want the reimbursement from the company.
Now, the company is saying if i tried to contact them about the utr or anything related to the company, they’ll file a lawsuit. This was over the phone and I said ok i will not interfere anymore.
I’m no longer part of it and my termination is recorded on CH.
Am i all safe? I will never contact the company ever again.
p.s. I messaged and called one of the members many times as I was very anxious. I have stopped now as he told me not to message or contact him anymore about it.
