Has anybody traveled by commercial plane with their CC1 (or any other 3d printer of a similar size)? Any suggestions on how to disassemble and package it, maybe keep glass parts separate in another checked luggage, what to keep in the cabin luggage etc?
Thank you

Disclaimer: I have not yet received the CANVAS, though I have ordered it.

Looking at the install videos, one change is that the original PTFE inside the cable chain is removed, and all filament now comes from the 4 external tubes into the hub.

This got me thinking: What if you don’t fully remove the original PTFE path?

Idea would be:

- keep the original internal PTFE (legacy direct path)

- install CANVAS normally with the 4 external PTFE tubes

- both paths physically exist

This could enable:

- CANVAS mode for multi-material

- Direct mode with a short path, glass lid on, better for TPU and nylon

So essentially a quick-switch setup without re-routing tubing every time.

My goal is to make the switch as fast and clean as possible.

Second thought, more forward-looking:

Could CANVAS itself become a quick-connect module instead of something permanently mounted?

Meaning:

- keep the upgraded toolhead and electronics in place

- mount CANVAS with some kind of quick latch and a single connector

- remove it entirely when not needed

- go back to direct feed with the glass lid in a few minutes

That would make it more like a tooling change than a permanent conversion.

In principle I don’t see why this wouldn’t work, but I may be missing something.

Has anyone tried this or thought through the implications from a mechanical, electrical, or firmware standpoint?
