I’ve had this one scene stuck in my head for years and can’t place it.

I believe it’s the opening scene of the movie. A man drives up to a house (possibly in a station wagon), gets out, and walks to the front door. A young girl (maybe around 6–7 years old, likely his daughter) runs out and jumps into his arms in a warm reunion. It seemed like he was probably coming home from work or maybe they were about to go somewhere, a trip etc, together.

The movie felt like it was from the 1970s or 1980s based on clothing and overall look.

I used to think the man might be Dustin Hoffman or Al Pacino, but I’m now pretty sure that’s wrong. What Ido remember is recognizing him as a well-known actor when he was younger—one of those “oh wow, that’s him early in his career” moments.

Unfortunately that’s all I have. I may not have watched the full movie (I'm pretty sure I did not)—this could have just been something on in the background.
