I can’t tell you how many times I have to give the canned lecture “when using multiple medications to control pain, the expectation is not that the Tylenol will always be enough. But it allows us to use less of the medications with a riskier side effect profile “.

More then half the time I then go ahead and just schedule the Tylenol instead of leaving it PRN so that the nurses will actually give it.

And I don’t really mind giving that pain med talk to patients. I just feel like the nurses should know better.
