I am in a convertible waitlist for both XL HRM and XL BM. Everyone is advising me to take HRM as it is the flagship course and one of the best in Asia. But tbh I am a bit sceptical about HRM. While I don't have any idea about what i want to do with my career. I am bit inclined towards consulting roles hence BM has been my first preference.
And from what I have heard from seniors and aluminis
most people who have joined the HRM course don't want to join HRM / are BM rejects but they are eventually have no regrets about it except for a few.
Best calls for HRM come on campus and majority (85% ish) of the people get placed in the HR domain.
HRM students are open for roles that come for BM as well. But until your CV has something relevant to that domain (like electives, internship, experience, CFA ) you don't get shortlisted.
if I get into an HR role it will be easy for me to pivot later if I don't like my role as there are many industry connections.
there is alot one gets to learn in HRM. Things they don't expect to even exist. It is one of the best courses.
between the two campus Xlri Jamshedpur is the more happening one.
there is no discrimination when sending out CVs to companies between the main campus and delhi campus. Almost all companies are open to students from both campuses.
So my questions is is it likely that I will get a consulting or a general management role even if I take HRM ?
Also what can I do/ add to my CV to make it happen ?
What kind of internships should I look for ?
Should I take XL HRM or XL Del BM ?
