FSA Exams Suggestion

Hi everyone,

I’d appreciate some advice from FSAs with experience in this area.

I’m currently working in consulting and expect to qualify as an ASA by the end of next month. My experience has primarily been in P&C reserving and regulatory work, with some exposure to pricing and a few out-of-domain projects (e.g., ECL modeling).

More recently, I’ve been involved in a risk-based supervisory project for a regulatory body that’s revamping its framework. While working on key risk indicators across different insurance risk areas, I’ve gained some high-level exposure to risk management and the investment side of insurance but not in much depth.

I’ve found the investment side particularly interesting and would like to better understand the career path and job prospects for actuaries in investments. How common are these roles, and what kind of work do they typically involve?

Additionally, since the GI track isn’t as formally recognised as it is with the CAS, I’m considering a mix of exams across GI and investments. Would the following combination make sense, or would you recommend other combination?

GI101

GI102

INV101

INV102
