[RE] So, the endings. Which is best? Which do you prefer? What's your head canon?

I'm deep in post game depression so I'm ruminating on the Reunion endings.

I think the best ending from the point of Max and Chloe has gotta be the Give Photo ending with everyone saved. Chloe is honest, Max burns the photo herself and chooses to not rewind their year, everything is great.

But I think the Burn Photo ending is the best ending narratively! Especially if you went BAE in the first game. Because you get the wonderful mirror image of the first game. In LIS1 Max chooses to save Chloe over everyone else and takes that trauma on herself to protect her. In Reunion, Chloe then chooses to protect Max from being in a constant loop of going back to stop the fire, and letting Max off the hook from the gigantic responsibility of time travel heroism. It's less morally neat and a lot more interesting, that way.

What do you think? Which do you choose?

[RE] Maybe the funniest moment in the franchise was overshadowed by maybe the most emotional moment in the franchise.

The most emotional is, of course, the boat scene in the lake. (OK it's at least in the top three, the OG ending in LIS1 is probably stronger).

However, this is preceded by the goddamn funniest scene in the entire franchise, which is Chloe just randomly going "fuck this sleuthing bullshit, robbery time!", stealing Safis bag around the corner and just booking it. I damn near broke a rib.

[DE][RE] I just finished DE and Reunion and I feel like I got punched in the heart (in a good way)

I know there is some jankiness and some narrative shenanigans. I don't care. The heart is there, and the vibe is there, and I can forgive a lot for those two things. The characters are nice; Amanda is adorable, Lucas is amusingly hateable, Safi is a nice and complex bag of trauma that I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with. Moses is like if someone crossed a Labrador retrieve with a blueberry muffin.

And adult Chloe is so much how adult Chloe should be. Still the same, but not just a aimless raging shitstirrer teenager, but some responsibilities on that edge.

The mysteries are nice. The sets are gorgeous, I really like Caledon and the Turtle.

And the endings! Not to spoil too much if you clicked this thread despite the spoiler warnings, but I like that you *can* fix things without it being perfect. It's not choosing between mega fuckery and super assery, the stakes are smaller but still super personal.

And the Chloe relationship. I don't care if it was fanservicey. I'm a fan and I was serviced and I can't complain. I adore it.
