Help with my cat's weird picky eating habits
I'm at my wit's end with my cat's weird picky eating habits. I have tried everything people recommended on different reddit threads: variety, nutritional yeast, feeding twice a day, and putting his food away.
Now I'm resorting to hiding treats in his food and crushing them up to sprinkle on top of his food hoping that he eats some of his food. However, most days he leaves 1/4 of his food and at best, one mouthful.
I have tried cheap brands (which I do notice he has a preference to) but he just starts being picky again after a week or two. Tried kibble, wet, freeze dried, raw. Nothing stuck SMH.
Now that he's having his tummy act up and the doctor having him try gastrointestinal diet, (which ofc he turned his nose up to) he's even more picky than ever and leaving more than half of his food untouched.
He's a mainecoon, which I heard has a likelihood of being picky eaters, but he's already 11 m/o, and still 5.5 kg, due to his picky eating since young.
One weird thing I noticed is that he would not touch any canned food items at all. For wet, only pouches or those aluminum tins. Kinda at my wits end here. He's causing sooo much wasted food to be tossed out.
Any advice?
