The Swarm will take over Dafyd to acquire his understanding of the Carryx structure and his ability to communicate like a Carryx. Then, with Dafyd's appearance, the Swarm will take over Ekur-Tkalal and use it's body changing abilities to become a Sovran and create a second Sovran/Carryx civil war.

Obvious issues with it but this was my guess about 20 mins after finishing the book. Looking forward to book 3!
