I have worked for the same dentist since I was 25 years old. I am now 63. I took time off to raise my sons, but went back after a few years off. I know this man well. He is a master at saying the wrong things! Clueless, really. 🤦🏻♀️ There are moments that I’d like to smack him across the face. He has told female patients that women begin to lose their attractiveness at around 50….then even more at 60! He said it the other day to a 47 year old woman. He also makes a lot of comments to moms about how their daughters are “eye candy”. 🤦🏻♀️
Sooooo….yesterday I was so embarrassed as we chatted to a patient about when we first began back in 1988. He then proceeds to tell the patient…”That’s when she (referring to me) had only one stripe in the pajamas.” I wanted to hide under the table. I turned red and could see how the patient thought that it was a rude and thoughtless thing to say. AWKWARD SILENCE!!!! I was so embarrassed, mortified, hurt. Now…I am not overweight or out of shape at all. I’m just not 25 anymore! Some days I just dislike him so much. ( He says the worst crap like this often, and I just put up with it. Always commenting on physical appearance. ) I feel it’s inappropriate to comment on anyone’s physical self. What if I said to him…”Wow, looks like your balding head has progressed quite a lot! Gettin’ pretty shiny up there…might have to wear my sunglasses 😎 to work! And how about that spare tire, Lordy! “—-all in front of our patients!
Guess I just needed to vent this once and for all! All sympathy is welcome….lol. 🥰
