Gas Scheduler Career Move
Hi all! I am currently working in O&G in Houston and curious about Commercial opportunities. I think Natural Gas Scheduling might be my move, but I’m hoping to get some candid insight on the role (the good, bad, and ugly). Is it a massive career jump/is there a better entry level job to look at? I am currently in a very high stress - high visibility role, and looking for something different, and get my foot in the door in Commercial. How long did it take you to learn and be comfortable in the role? I know the hours are crazy - how manageable and realistic is a work life balance? I’m still young in my career and willing to grind, but I don’t want to work myself to death for 2+ years and feel like I’m getting nothing in return. Once you get a grasp on things, does it become easier, or is it always an uphill battle? I am very driven by the fear of failure, which can be good and bad in this industry. I am also very analytical and a super quick learner, so I think I could succeed, but want to be sure I’m not in over my skis, if you will. TIA!
