The way every MBA edit makes CAT look like a side quest
Is it just me or CAT 2025 completely changed the scoring game?
Just saw some early discussions comparing CAT 2025 with CAT 2024 and honestly… this year felt rough.
DILR and Quant especially didn’t feel anything like mocks. Way more time-consuming and tricky than expected.
People are throwing around rough estimates like:
99%ile: ~80–85 marks
95%ile: ~70–75 marks
90%ile: ~60–65 marks
Not sure how accurate this is yet, just seeing it everywhere.
My attempts in DILR were way lower than mocks and honestly I’m confused if that’s the case for everyone or I just messed up my slot.
Does 8–9 decent DILR attempts still mean anything this year or is accuracy going to matter way more?
What slot did you guys get and how did it feel compared to mocks?
IIM Ranchi isn’t what people think
Saw this post on the sub where a senior from IIM Ranchi basically shared his experience there
he talked about hostel situation being messy no proper hostel for first years faculty housing shared rooms no privacy campus being kind of empty with not much sports infra strict rules like early gate closing and fines average academics where mostly you have to study on your own bad mess food and even placements not being as smooth as people expect overall his point was that a lot of things don’t really match the “IIM tag” image people have
I went through the post and comments too and honestly it felt like a very frustrated personal experience more than anything else
my thought is maybe it’s not the same for everyone but it does make you think that just going for the “IIM” name without knowing the reality might not always feel worth it depending on what you expect from campus life
my take is I haven’t even appeared for CAT yet I’m planning it as my first attempt so I don’t really have firsthand experience but honestly I keep seeing a lot of influencers on Instagram overhyping baby IIMs and saying things like they’re equal to BLACKI which doesn’t really match what people on Reddit are saying after actually being there
so I’m just confused why there’s such a big difference in perception it almost feels like some people are overhyping it just for content and reach rather than showing the real picture

Lmk if you’ve seen her stats or the full video
I keep noticing that everyone talks about having a fixed plan, but in reality most of us keep changing strategies after every few mocks or bad scores. just wondering if people actually stick to one approach or keep adjusting as they go
like if the scores are almost the same, what actually makes the difference in shortlists or converts? is it mostly profile, academics, or something else entirely?
i’m able to attempt questions but accuracy is all over the place, especially in rc. sometimes i feel confident and still get it wrong. not sure if the issue is understanding, overattempting or something else. what actually worked for you guys to improve accuracy?
