2009 Scion XD 1.8L auto shifts hard into 4th gear. Gave me a scare yesterday
2009 Scion XD 1.8L auto, 268k miles
Yesterday, while driving home from work, the car started jerking/ lerching a bit and wouldn't go past 40mph until I let off gas, then reapply the accelerator slowly.
I've recently replaced the ignition coil in the 4th cylinder due to p0304 misfire. I found out that the ignition coil seal was damaged, leading to this misfire and burning out the coil.
I've been meaning to replace it, but haven't gotten around to it. Has anyone had a similar experience that you were able to solve by replacing the valve cover gasket and / or the coil seal?
I'm not very car savvy, and I'm just wondering if there is any other diagnosis that could cause this hard shifting and lerching while not being able to accelerate.
Notes:
The car will Idle hard sometimes, then it will randomly go away.
The car jumps a bit when accelerating from a stop, even when accelerating very slowly
